ABC Media Watch has weighed in on the debate about the length of the Uluru Statement from the Heart, finding Facebook was wrong to label posts by Sky News Australia’s Peta Credlin as “False information”.

Credlin ignited a heated debate earlier this month when she published a 26-page version of the Uluru Statement that was obtained through a freedom of information request.

Addressing the issue on Monday night, Media Watch host Paul Barry backed up Credlin's claims, chiding Facebook’s parent company Meta – and the RMIT fact check that it relied on – for their decision. “The Uluru statement is expressed on one page, but there are many more pages of notes and background… where matters like a treaty and reparations are raised,” Barry said.
