PETALING JAYA: Air quality in the Klang Valley has improved this morning, with only two stations recording unhealthy air pollutant index levels.Negeri Sembilan recorded unhealthy levels in two areas – Nilai and Seremban .
An API reading of between zero and 50 indicates good air quality; 51 and 100, moderate; 101 and 200, unhealthy; 201 and 300, very unhealthy; and 300 and above, hazardous. Yesterday morning, 16 areas across several states were reported to have recorded unhealthy API levels, including eight in the Klang Valley with readings above 150.
Education minister Fadhlina Sidek said all activities outside the classroom should be cancelled if API readings exceed 101. The education ministry also said it will discuss with the health ministry from time to time whether schools should be closed if API levels increase.
