KUALA LUMPUR: City police have issued nearly 6,000 traffic summonses on the third day of the latest stint of the Respect Traffic Laws campaign.
Kuala Lumpur Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department chief Asst Comm Sarifudin Mohd Salleh said they issued 5,953 summonses on Sunday with the bulk of them being for traffic obstruction .
"106 summonses were issued to locals for operating a vehicle without a licence. Four foreigners were also issued summonses for the same offence," he said when contacted on Monday . He said police arrested five individuals under Section 45 of the Road Transport Act as well as one under Section 50 of the same Act for driving while under the influence and unlawful interference and importuning respectively.
