AYANEO Flip will deliver a clamshell portable PC gaming experience by the end of the year with either a thumb keyboard or a second screen. Pretty interesting, isn’t it? Read on to find out more.
The device is still in the final stages of production and is expected to ship sometime by the end of the year. Right now, we are only seeing official renders given out by the company, so no physical units are in the wild as of yet. Reports online there will be two different models in this range – one called the AYA Neo Flip KB and the other the AYA Neo Flip DS.
What we do have glimpses of however are intriguing, especially as it has a unique design, unlike other handheld gaming PCs in the market. For one, the screen flips up hence the name Flip. The unit is shipping with a 7-inch display with a 120Hz refresh rate so it can support fast frame rates on the go.
Powering the unit is an AMD Ryzen 7 7840U processor with Radeon 780M integrated graphics. This is the same chip, albeit with a different name, as the ASUS ROG Ally and the upcoming Lenovo Legion Go. You also get dual analogue sticks, a D-pad and action buttons. We can expect trigger buttons at the back of the unit, alongside multiple buttons scattered around the chassis, as well as what looks to be either a fingerprint scanner or an optical touchpad in the top right-hand corner.
The difference between the two models lies at the bottom part of the unit. The KB model will have a thumb keyboard in the middle of the unit, while the DS will have a secondary screen right where the keyboard should be. Imagine playing retro games on the dual screens – it should be a great experience emulating classic and fan favourite games.
AYANEO aims to ship the Flip by the end of the year, which is only a couple of months away. AYANEO has a mixed track record of delivering their products on time so we will have to wait and see. Additionally, no hints of pricing have been shared for the AYANEO Flip and going by previous AYANEO product pricing, it will be pricier than even the ASUS ROG Ally.
