The Democratic president is set to address Americans less than 24 hours after a solidarity trip to Israel.
US president Joe Biden’s speech comes as he prepares to ask Congress for a joint US$100 billion package that includes money for Ukraine and Israel.
The White House’s press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said Biden’s speech would “discuss our response to Hamas’ terrorist attacks against Israel and Russia’s ongoing brutal war against Ukraine.” Washington’s rivals are looking on, with Russia’s president Vladimir Putin saying after talks in Beijing with Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping yesterday that world conflicts only moved to “strengthen” their countries’ ties.
Biden said in Tel Aviv yesterday that he would ask Congress for an “unprecedented support package for Israel’s defence” later this week.
