PETALING JAYA: A total of 34,216 workplace accidents including 317 fatalities were reported nationwide last year, says the Human Resources Ministry.
This has brought the workplace accident rate to 2.22 per 1,000 workers, which is lower than the 2.42 set in the Malaysian Occupational Safety and Health Master Plan 2025 .
The ministry said the workplace accident rate had reduced by 33% while the fatality rate dropped by 56%, compared to a decade ago. On the health aspects, it said the ministry has enhanced efforts to increase the awareness among employers, workers and medical practitioners to report cases of diseases and poisoning.Among the cases, 7,143 were disease-related.
