PETALING JAYA: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has started tabling Budget 2024 in Parliament on Friday (Oct 13) where he is expected to roll out bolder measures and reforms.
PETALING JAYA: Controlling prices of goods, reducing medical bills and improving the minimum wage top the list of wishes people have for Budget 2024.
Nur Syafiq, who is newly-married, also wishes the government can provide more affordable housing in Cheras where he lives.“The interest rate charged to borrowers is quite high at the moment. Electricity and water bills have also been excessive and I hope the government can address this. Marketing executive Lily Hong Mei Wan, 26, expressed hope that more job opportunities will be provided for university-leavers.“The government should also encourage them to open their own business as a primary or secondary source of income,” she said.Currently, RON95 is at RM2.05 per litre, RON97 is at RM3.47 per litre, and B10 diesel is at RM2.15 per litre.
Bank official Praveen Rajendran, 38, shared concern about rising interest rates for house loans and wished the government can bring down the overnight policy rate to a more reasonable level.“It is necessary for financial assistance or a reduction in loan interest rates to be introduced for B40 group so they can own a house more easily,” he said.
Praveen said there are many unsold housing units in Petaling Jaya, and he hopes financial assistance or loans with lower interest rates will be given to encourage people to buy them.Senior citizen Lee Lam See, 77, raised concerns about high medical bills, especially in private hospitals, which can be burdensome for those without government pensions.
