The Ryzen Z1-powered ROG Ally could be making its way to Malaysia very soon, with Asus saying that we'll have to wait for a local telco to announce it's arrival.
first showed off the ROG Ally on the global stage way back in May, it came in two different configurations. Ultimately, only the more powerful and capable ROG Ally with the AMD Ryzen Z1 Extreme processor came to Malaysia when it arrived on our shores in June. However, according to Asus, they will be bringing the ROG Ally with the step down AMD Ryzen Z1 chip to Malaysia soon.
This new configuration for the ROG Ally will be sharing mostly the same specifications as the one that’s already in Malaysia, with the only change being the processor. This lower model gaming handheld will get the Ryzen Z1 processor, which consists of six CPU cores, 12 threads, 22MB of cache and four RDNA 3 compute units in its integrated GPU.
Nevertheless, that’s the only major change here on this cut down ROG Ally. This means you’re still getting 16GB of LPDDR5 RAM and a 512GB to go along with your handheld, as well as a 40Wh battery keeping the lights on. The display is also unchanged, with a 7-inch, 1080p IPS touchscreen panel that can push a 120Hz refresh rate, a peak brightness of 500nits and a 7ms response time.
As for how much it’ll cost, Asus didn’t actually specify it just yet but on their website the ROG Ally with the Ryzen Z1 processor has already been listed, with arecommended retail price. You won’t be able to buy it though, as Asus says it’ll be made available here exclusively via a local telco, and that we’ll have to wait for the official telco bundle announcement.
