KUALA LUMPUR: Badrul Hisham Shaharin, better known as Chegubard, has been detained on Thursday (Sept 14) in connection with several police reports lodged against him and not due to Saturday's rally, says the police.
Bukit Aman CID director Comm Datuk Seri Mohd Shuhaily Mohd Zain said Chegubard was detained at about 8pm at Jalan Raja Laut.
"He was detained in connection with the six police reports and five investigation papers involving him."The reason I'm having this press conference is to refute speculation that Chegubard was arrested due to Saturday's rally," he told a press conference at Dang Wangi police headquarters on Thursday night.
Comm Mohd Shuhaily said Chegubard was being investigated over several police reports lodged against him including on the leak of documents belonging to a government department and his revelation of assets belonging to the country's leaders."We even issued a notice under the Criminal Procedure Code, for him to show up...he signed the document and mentioned he was not willing to go to any nearest police station ," he said.
Comm Mohd Shuhaily said the police will try their best to finish recording Chegubard's statement as soon as possible. "There are five IPs so it will take some time but trust we will do so as soon as possible," he added.
