JOHOR BARU: Police here have seized five firearms, 136 live bullets and arrested nine suspects in raids on a drug trafficking syndicate here.
Johor police chief Comm Datuk Kamarul Zaman Mamat said that state police and personnel from Bukit Aman conducted several raids on Tuesday around Johor Baru, Seri Alam and Kota Tinggi.
Comm Kamarul Zaman added that two of the suspects tested positive for drugs while further checks found six of them have prior records involving drugs and crime. “Besides the drugs, police recovered five pistols and 136 bullets. We have sent the firearms for a ballistic test to see whether it had been used in a shooting incident in Mersing some four months back,” said Comm Kamarul Zaman.
