KUALA LUMPUR: Police here are tracking down the person who sent an email claiming that there was a bomb at the Bank Negara Malaysia building here on Wednesday (Sept 20).

City police chief Comm Datuk Allaudeen Abdul Majid said an investigation has been opened under Section 507 of the Penal Code to track down the person who sent the email to a Bank Negara officer."Yesterday, a Bank Negara officer received an email informing him of a bomb threat. The Bomb Disposal Unit did a flushing in the area and after two hours, there were no explosives discovered.

"We will investigate and track the sender down by working with the Malaysian Communication and Multimedia Commission and Cyber Security Malaysia," he told reporters after attending the Respect Traffic Laws operation at Jalan Ampang on Thursday . Previously, a message on a bomb threat at the BNM building went viral and personnel were asked to work from home following the temporary building closure.
