Peka and the Shah Alam Community Forest Society want to contest a decision to degazette the Bukit Cherakah forest reserve in Shah Alam.
Justice Azizah Nawawi said the court needed more time to deliberate the matter as it is a public interest case. The two NGOs claimed that it was illegal for the Selangor government to “backdate” the impugned gazette. The gazette was published on May 5, 2022, 22 years after the decision made in 2000.
