A new report from the Residential Tenancies Board (RTB) showed the proportion of private tenancies associated with landlords who own 100+ tenancies have increased from 9.5% in the second quarter of 2023 to 11.17% in the first three months of this year.
Sinn Féin has accused the Government of being “too reliant” on the private rental sector and driving prices up as new figures revealed that one-fifth of rental properties in Dublin were owned by cuckoo funds.
“Landlords are leaving but not at the level we previously thought. Some of those landlords are being replaced by medium-sized portfolio holders, including second-hand properties," he said. “There has been too much reliance on the private rental sector from this Government and its predecessors. Actually, that is the real problem.”
