KOTA KINABALU: Graft busters have arrested a former senior manager of a government-linked company (GLC) for allegedly submitting fake claims over three maintenance projects not implemented in Tawau.

The man, in his 40s, was arrested at the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission Tawau office at 10.30am on Tuesday .

It was learned the suspect had submitted claims worth some RM26,000 between November 2017 and January 2018. An agency source said the man had ordered a company to undertake work to replace pipes at a company manufacturing palm oil-based products.The suspect was later released on RM5,000 bail with one local surety.

When contacted, Sabah MACC director Datuk S Karunanithy said the suspect is expected to be charged at the Tawau Sessions Court on Wednesday .
