KUALA LUMPUR: The mechanism for the new flexible Employees' Provident Fund account is being finalised, says Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan.
The Deputy Finance Minister said this third EPF account was aimed at allowing contributors to access their savings at any time, regardless of their income levels.“It can be accessed by all members whether they are from the B40, M40 or T20 groups. This is to ease the financial burden of those facing emergencies. We are finalising this,” he told the Dewan Rakyat on Monday .
Kalam Salan had asked a supplementary question on whether or not the government would allow targeted EPF withdrawals.ALSO READ:However, he said the flexible EPF account"is to allow people to carry out withdrawals during emergencies" and the mechanism was being worked out. In Budget 2024, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim announced that flexible EPF accounts will be introduced for contributors to access at any time.
