: A total of 700 metric tonnes of local white rice will be distributed throughout the peninsula beginning this Friday as an early intervention in addressing the problem of the supply of the country’s staple food.
LPP Deputy Director-General Amir Mat Amin said the rice will be supplied to 40 premises under LPP, namely 23 Peladang Outlets , eight Farmers’ Organisation Agro Bazaars and nine Kedai Peladang. “The total distribution under LPP for the period up to the end of this year is 300 metric tonnes, while ) FAMA is 400 metric tonnes, bringing the total amount to 700 metric tonnes,“ he told Bernama today.
He said the purchase of large quantities by traders also contributed to the current shortage of local white rice.
