SERDANG: A foreign monk has been detained in connection with the alleged sexual assault of a woman in Puchong.
Serdang acting OCPD Supt Izuddin Ab Wahab said the suspect, in his 40s, was detained in Puchong on Sept 23."We are investigating the matter further," he said when contacted on Wednesday .
Supt Izuddin said so far only one victim has come forward to lodge a police report against the suspect. It was previously reported that a woman was allegedly sexually assaulted by a foreign monk in Puchong.'She alleged that the incident occurred in Puchong six years ago.The woman's statement has been recorded to assist in the investigation, he said."The suspect has also been identified and we are currently tracking him down," he said.
The case is classified under Section 376 of the Penal Code for rape, which carries between five and 20 years jail term and whipping upon conviction.
