The Perlis religious council was asking for access to give religious education to the three children once a fortnight.
KUALA LUMPUR: The High Court has dismissed an application by the Perlis Islamic Religious and Malay Council to vary a custody order of three Muslim children who are now under the care of their non-Muslim mother, Loh Siew Hong.
Justice Hayatul Akmal Abdul Aziz said MAIPs’s application was not in the best interest of the children. “There is no reasonable or lawful justification to vary the order as there is no change in circumstances,” she said in her ruling. MAIPs was asking for access to the children – twin girls, aged 15, and an 11-year-old boy – once a fortnight for them to be provided religious education and participate in religious celebrations.
