Imposition of anti-dumping duties is to address “unfair trade practices” by some Japanese steelmakers.
The government opened a probe into allegations of dumping of Japanese cold rolled coils in January based on a petition filed by Mycron Steel CRC Sdn Bhd.
In a statement today, the investment, trade and industry ministry said a final determination had been made to impose anti-dumping duties on cold rolled coils of alloy or non-alloy steel of a thickness between 0.2mm to 2.6mm and width between 700mm to 1,300mm. It said a 9.03% duty was imposed on products from the Nippon Steel Corporation, while other manufacturers were slapped with a 22.62% duty.
