KUALA LUMPUR: Voting for the MCA central party committee ended at 7pm on Sunday (Sept 24), says Datuk Chong Sin Woon.
"Having learned from Saturday's experience, the vote-counting and tallying should not take too long, with results expected at around 11pm," he said when met at the Dewan San Choon in Wisma MCA here on Sunday.Nominations for the 2023 MCA elections took place on Sept 11.
It will be a straight fight for the MCA president post, with Dr Wee Ka Siong going up against former central committee member Datuk Tan Chong Seng.The vice-presidential posts will see seven candidates vying for four spots. They are incumbents Datuk Tan Teik Cheng, Datuk Lim Ban Hong and Datuk Seri Ti Lian Ker as well as newcomers Datuk Seri Dr Wee Jeck Seng, Datuk Lawrence Low, Datuk Nicole Wong Siaw Ting and Dr Pamela Yong.The central party polls involve some 29,000 MCA delegates and 605 electoral votes.MCA will hold its annual general meeting on Oct 21 and 22.
