MYAirline Sdn Bhd interim chief executive officer Stuart Cross has resigned, New Straits Times (NST) reports. His departure came shortly after taking over the
company from his predecessor, Rayner Teo, who stepped down earlier this month due to health issues. What's more, things are already not looking too well for the airline, especially after its abrupt cessation of operations last week which caused many of its customers stranded at airports due to the cancellation of its flights.
With the next-in-line now gone, MYAirline is currently being run by its interim accountable executive Datuk Seri Azharuddin Abdul Rahman, the report adds. It is worth noting that Azharuddin, via an official statement released on Saturday, clarified that all of the airline's personnel are still under full employment and none have been placed on unpaid leave.
Meanwhile, industry insiders told the publication that it is unclear whether MYAirline had applied for a renewal of its air service licence , which is one of two licences that are required for an entity to operate as a scheduled commercial air operator in Malaysia. The other being an air operator's certificate , which the airline had previously announced to have received an extension from the Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia earlier this month.
