KUALA LUMPUR: A motion to discuss the sudden suspension of MYAirline will be heard at the Special Chamber on Monday afternoon.
Dewan Rakyat Speaker Tan Sri Johari Abdul said he was satisfied that the motion is a specific matter of public interest and an important issue to be discussed as required under Standing Order 18 of the Dewan Rakyat.“As such, I allow this motion to be discussed at the Special Chamber at 2.30pm ,” he said in Parliament on Monday .
“There is a need for the minister to explain how this low-cost airline can face significant financial pressure till it was forced to suspend operations pending shareholder restructuring and recapitalisation.“This motion should be expedited as the country’s good image in tourism is at stake, in addition to passengers affected,” he added.
On Monday morning, Transport Minister Anthony Loke said the licence of MYAirline Sdn Bhd will be suspended and this will be announced by the Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia .
