YANGON (Eleven Media Group/Asia News Network): The husband of a Myanmar woman who allegedly forced their daughter to become a sex worker has filed a lawsuit against his wife on four counts.
The wife, a cleaner at a resort in Saraburi Province in central Thailand, allegedly engaged in prostitution and also forced her 15-year-old daughter and other women to offer sexual services to guests at the resort.The woman is now facing investigation on four counts including illegal border crossing, forcing her underage daughter into prostitution, and tormenting children, said U Moe Gyo, chairman of the Joint Action Committee for Burmese Affairs .
"She is facing four counts of crime. Number one is illegal border crossing. They have no documentary evidence. Number two is a law on child rights. It is related to torture and prostitution of children," said U Moe Gyo. "The woman can be sentenced to 12 to 15 years in prison, while the immigration law can sentence her to six months or one year in prison,” he added.
