Kota Kinabalu: An NGO called “Meraki Daat” claims the mounts of plastic waste washed on shores of Pulau Gaya is threatening the health of six villages.
The plastic waste came from mainland especially the rivers flowing to the sea around Kota Kinabalu, said Louis Sundapan who manages the NGO’s clean-up project at the six villages with 20,000residents, thus cannot dispose that much plastic waste. He suggested the authorities install nets or other means to collect all the floating waste from the river mouths in order to keep all the beaches clean.
