SANDAKAN: Catholic High School Alumni Association Dragon and Lion Dance Troupe from Petaling Jaya, Selangor emerged as champion of the “Little Hong Kong” Lion Dance Competition 2023, recently.
The team secured the victory with 9.36 points, beating 24 other teams at Sibuga Sport Complex, here. Second place went to Nan Bang Dragon and Lion Dance Association from Penampang with 9.22 points. Meanwhile, Organising Chairman of the competition, Chin Yee Kent said one of goals of this competition was to enliven the Sandakan district atmosphere. “This ‘Little Hong Kong’ Lion Dance Competition 2023 attracted 25 teams from all over Malaysia to showcase their respective skills and performances. ADVERTISEMENT Chin also said the competition was a platform for youngsters to polish their knowledge and skills, thus forming friendship.
Also present were Chairman of The United Chinese Communities Association Sandakan Datuk Edward Khoo and Federation of the Dragon and Lion Dance Associations Sabah Chairman Leslie Chee Che Shen.
