KOTA KINABALU: Electricity supply in Sabah and Labuan is expected to return to normal from Sunday , with the Rugading independent power plant fully operational.
Sabah Electricity Sdn Bhd senior general manager for asset management Idris Mohd Noor said the Rugading power plant had been shut down to facilitate technical repairs since Sept 8.Idris said following the closure of Rugading, the Sabah Grid suffered a drop in electricity generation, and SESB was forced to implement schedule load shedding.
He said that the scheduled power cuts were implemented in several districts to stabilise the state grid and prevent a major disruption to the entire electricity supply to Sabah and Labuan. On average, peak hour electricity demand for Sabah and Labuan is about 970 to 1,000 megawatts , he added.
