SINGAPORE (The Straits Times/Asia News Network): The family of a young Malaysian chef who was badly injured in a road accident in Singapore is raising funds to cover his hefty hospital bills, which have ballooned to S$125,000.

THERE have been previous reports of donation boxes going missing from places of worship but a recent viral video shows a man stealing it from a restaurant.

A video that has gone viral purportedly shows a man stealing five donation boxes from a restaurant that is said to be in Ulu Tiram, Johor.Seri Alam OCPD Supt Mohd Sohaimi Ishak said the police are aware of a two minute, 26 second viral video on X showing a male suspect believed to be stealing five donation boxes from a restaurant in Ulu Tiram, Johor.

He also confirmed that a 57-year-old local man had lodged a police report over the theft of the donation boxes."The suspect made off with five donation boxes containing an estimated RM300," Supt Mohd Sohaimi said. He added that the case is being investigated under Section 457 of the Penal Code, which carries a maximum jail term of 14 years if convicted.

"Members of the public who have information regarding the suspect can contact senior investigation officer ASP Hapizee Zulkarnain Md Puzi at 012-753 2276 or 07-386 4222," he added.
