KUALA LUMPUR: Marang MP Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang has challenged a government backbencher to lodge a police report, over his remarks that a change in the Federal Government is still possible.
“Be it through a no-confidence vote, getting statutory declarations from MPs or the Parliament dissolved and we hold another general election.Abdul Hadi was responding to a question by RSN Rayer on whether it was"haram" for Perikatan Nasional to attempt toppling the current unity government.Earlier in the lower house, the PAS president said he was also ready to be put behind bars.
“In Islam, there are two courts - the present and the afterlife. Those with faith are willing to be punished in this world. “As for myself, where multiple police reports have been lodged against me, I have been given professional treatment by the police.“I am willing to be penalised, be it imprisoned or a penalty,” he said.
Abdul Hadi is currently being probed by the police for his speech during the Ceramah Perdana Perikatan Nasional in Bakri, Muar, on Aug 26, in which he had allegedly questioned the authority of the Pardons Board. Police are also investigating the case under Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act for misuse of network facilities.
