Health ministry says the amount is from a total of 4,753 compound notices issued when inspecting over 23,000 food premises.
The health ministry imposed penalties for smoking offences and on premises that did not meet cleanliness requirements.
PUTRAJAYA: A total of RM1.2 million in smoking-related penalties were issued through compound notices by the health ministry last month, health director-general Dr Radzi Abu Hassan said today.There were also 2,566 compound notices for RM1.28 million in penalties under rules for the prevention and control of dengue fever.
Radzi said a total of 6,003 food premises were inspected last month with 176 premises ordered to close to ensure the cleanliness of the premises as well as the food served.
