KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 21 — Deputy Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Minister Fuziah Salleh has said that a video on the topic of a RM200 grocery budget, which went viral recently, was an old recording.reported Fuziah as saying that the video was recorded last July when she visited a supermarket in Langkawi, Kedah.
She also said the clip had been taken out of context and that she suspected a political motivation behind its widespread dissemination now. “That’s an old recording when we were dealing with the issue of RM200 not being enough to buy any necessities.“I believe there is an instigator behind it, and it may be politically motivated,” she was quoted as saying by the Malay national newspaper.
Yesterday, a video of Fuziah buying household groceries with a RM200 budget went viral on social media, drawing flak from the public who said that it did not reflect real household expenses. She was seen purchasing items such as biscuits, instant noodles, sardines, flour and cooking oil in the one-minute-and-36-second video.
