The local rice weighing 180 tonnes were hidden in huge sacks, says the agriculture and food security ministry.
Deputy agriculture and food security minister Chan Foong Hin led the special task force comprising officers from several departments in the raid on the unlicensed warehouse.
The agriculture and food security ministry said a total of 180 tonnes of SST local rice were stored in jumbo sacks and hidden inside a warehouse belonging to an unlicensed rice mill. If convicted, the operator can be fined up to RM25,000 if it is their first offence. The director-general of padi and rice control may cancel or suspend its licence as well.
