MELAKA: A 14-year-old Rohingya is among two suspects that have been arrested over the alleged rape of an underage girl here, says Melaka police.
State police chief Deputy Comm Datuk Zainol Samah said the other suspect is a 27-year-old man, also a Rohingya, and the arrests were made following a police report lodged by the victim's brother at Batang Tiga police station here on Sept 15."The report was lodged by the victim's 22-year-old brother alleging his sister had been raped after going missing from home at 2pm on Sept 14.
DCP Zainol said a preliminary investigation showed the victim had first befriended the younger suspect through WhatsApp on Sept 13. "The two then took the victim to a nearby beachfront in a car driven by the elder suspect before the alleged rape took place.
