For many years, Qualcomm and MediaTek chipsets dominated the mobile devices market. But Samsung hasn't given up on its Exynos dreams. The next flagship-class model from the company is the Exynos 2400, announced at the recent System LSI Tech Day 2023.
While not officially available, Samsung has provided some details of the Exynos 2400 chipset. It will allegedly deliver 1.7x more CPU performance and 14.7x more AI performance, which suggests that Samsung will focus on improving AI-based features. The chipset will also sport a new Xclipse 940 GPU based on AMD's RDNA 3 architecture, so we can probably expect improvements in gaming performance.
However, whether this makes the Exynos 2400 better than its existing competition remains to be seen. Based on PowerBoard 4.0 benchmark screenshots on X , the Exynos 2400's Xclipse GPU isn't quite up to par with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2's Adreno 740 GPU. While the former scored 1656 points in the Vulkan 1.3 test, the latter had a higher score of 1746.
Mind you, the Exynos 2400 was tested on an Android 14 device, which might not be as stable in terms of performance . Also, Samsung hasn't launched the chipset yet and could still have time to improve it. It's entirely possible to see an Exynos chipset that finally impresses us. If you ask me, it's best to temper any expectations.
