Kota Kinabalu: Sabah Progressive Party (SAPP) Api-Api Constituency Liaison Committee Chairman Wong Vui Khim has called upon both the government and private sectors to prioritise the needs and concerns of senior citizens.

While Sabah boasts numerous daycare centres, nurseries and pre-kindergarten facilities, centres that cater to the needs of the elderly are often overlooked, he said after presenting fruits, pomelo, and mooncakes to the Comfort Aged Care Centre in Likas in conjunction with the recent Mooncake Festival. His visit to the centre was also to study the pressing issue of Malaysia’s ageing population, with a particular emphasis on the situation in Sabah.

“Findings of a study revealed a significant correlation between the increase in the population of individuals aged above 60 and a subsequent decline in GDP growth per capita,” he said.
