SHAH ALAM, Sept 13 — Selangor has recorded the highest number of domestic violence cases in the country since 2017, said state police chief Datuk Hussein Omar Khan.
“The Royal Malaysia Police statistics show that there has been an increase in domestic violence cases in Selangor from 2017 to 2021 although there was a drop in 2022, with 466 cases,” he said when speaking at the closing ceremony of the Selangor Police Domestic Violence Seminar 2023 here today. Hussein said wives were often the victims in these cases followed by children and husbands apart from other victims such as ex-husbands, ex-wives, other wives, daughters-in-law as well as sons-in-law and cousins.
