Kota Kinabalu: Shell has reversed its earlier plan to close down petrol stations in Sabah following a series of discussion with the State Government.

“The State Government welcomes the good news,” Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor said, commenting on Shell Timur Sdn Bhd’s announcement not to proceed with the closure of its 34 petrol stations in Sabah effective January next year. Following Shell’s announcement of the impending closure last June, Hajiji met with Shell Malaysia Chairperson Siti Hurrairah Sulaiman to discuss the matter.

“We brought this issue to the attention of the Federal Government and appreciate the Federal Government’s sensitivity to the situation in Sabah, and appreciate that they have listened,” he said.
