“The nation faces various obstacles to attract investment and technology to develop local palm oil downstream products,” he said when winding up the Dewan Negara special meeting to debate on the motion of the 12th Malaysia Plan Mid-Term Review today. According to statistics from the Department of Statistics Malaysia , a total of 3.78 million tonnes of crude palm oil worth RM19.77 billion were exported in 2022 while the exports of other palm-based products, including processed palm oil, palm kernel oil , palm-based oleochemicals, other palm products and palm kernel cake , amounted to 22.75 million tonnes with a value of RM118.12 billion for the same period.
