GEORGE TOWN: Pejuang is still hopeful that Perikatan Nasional will consider its request to join or cooperate with the coalition for the upcoming state elections, says Datuk Seri Mukhriz Mahathir.
The Pejuang president said the party does not want to be perceived as"spoilers" who split Malay votes and said that consolidating efforts towards securing those votes was the best approach for Perikatan to face its rivals Pakatan Harapan and Barisan Nasional. He said Pejuang's aim to contest was not to dominate politics, have grand designs for top positions, or rule any of the states.
"We are aware of our limitations," he told reporters here on Wednesday , adding that Perikatan's response to this had been inconsistent prior to Pejuang's latest request, but the party remained hopeful of a favourable outcome. Voters in Selangor, Kedah, Kelantan, Terengganu, Penang and Negri Sembilan will go to the polls on Aug 12, following the Election Commission's decision to hold simultaneous state elections in the six states. – BernamaCops bust call centre posing as welfare organisations to cheat victimsMoney issues believed to be behind murder of three Sri Lankans, say police
