The president of the Lower House's commission of productive activities, Alberto Gusmeroli, said on Monday that he has sent a letter requesting Stellantis Chairman John Elkann to report to parliament following the announcement late on Sunday that Carlos Tavares has quit as CEO of the Italian-French-American carmaker.
"This morning, following the resignation yesterday of the CEO of Stellantis, I sent a letter requesting to hear President Elkann", Gusmeroli told the Start program of Sky Tg24. "I think it is absolutely necessary and I believe the request can be accepted", he noted, adding that"it is a difficult time for the automotive" sector.
"Faced with a complicated problem like ecological transition, there are certainly more interconnected solutions, not just one", Gusmeroli noted."As always, great changes can be great opportunities, we have to succeed in finding the right solutions for a sector that is absolutely vital", he concluded.
Tavares, 66, resigned suddenly, deepening concerns about efforts to turn around the world's fourth-largest automaker following the group's drop in profits.
