ONE local fruit that is not known to grow easily outside Borneo but much loved every fruiting season, as currently, is Tarap or Timadang in Kadazan Dusun (Artocarpus Odoratissimus).
The unripe fruits have a thick green and hard skin, but ripe are yellowish, soft and fragrant.
However, who would have thought that tarap fruits are now comparable to other local fruits and that ripe ones can fetch RM20 to RM30 each. Besides tarap, another famous exotic fruit in Sabah is bambangan which is identified as part of the mango family.
