Yeo Bee Yin says the bill describes what the finance minister should do but does not say what action will be taken if he fails to act accordingly.
Puchong MP Yeo Bee Yin described the Public Finance and Fiscal Responsibility Bill 2023 as a ‘job description’ for the finance minister.
“If we look at the bill, it lists out the responsibilities of the finance minister. The minister must do this, and that. “However, just like in this bill, if the government does not do it , there are no consequences,” she said, adding that this was why, until today, public infrastructure remained unfriendly to people with disabilities.
