Kota Kinabalu: A local hotels group has clarified that an Airbnb unit, not a hotel, was involved in an incident in which Chinese tourists found a spy cam inside their lodging.
The Sabah and Labuan chapter of the Malaysian Association of Hotels , in a statement, said it is important that consumers differentiate between registered and regulated hotels and other types of accommodations.“Hotels are expected to adhere to strict guidelines and regulations to ensure the well-being of our guests,” said the group in a statement. “It is crucial to understand that Airbnb properties are not subject to the same regulations and standards as licensed hotels.
