KOTA KINABALU: A man who flashed his genitals at a woman during a video call was slapped with a one year’s imprisonment at the Tawau Magistrate’s Court on Thursday (Sept 14).

Magistrate Don Stiwin Malanjun handed the jail sentence to Raziman Ibrahim after the 35-year-old pleaded guilty to a charge under Section 509 of the Penal Code for outraging the modesty of the victim.

According to the facts of the case, the accused had committed the act at a house in Kampung Tanjung Batu Keramat at about 3pm on Aug 19. The accused had shown his private parts to the 38-year-old woman through a video call with the intent to commit a lewd act. The offence is punishable under the same Act which provides a maximum five year jail sentence or fine or both.Prosecuting officer Asst Supt Nur Intan Jamrin appeared for the prosecution while the accused was not represented.
