The immigration officer on duty at the reception counter detected the act of a Malaysian couple who used their child’s identification documents to apply for a Malaysian passport for a Sri Lankan child. "They were paid by an individual to apply for the passport," Johor Immigration Department director Baharuddin Tahir said in a statement.Baharuddin said the Sri Lankan child failed to answer several questions posed by the officer, instead the questions were answered by the couple. He said an investigation found the child did not attend school in the country as claimed by the couple and the child could not speak Bahasa Malaysia and only answered the questions in English.
