Putrajaya has put a ban on the film Mentega Terbang from being shown in cinemas and its publicity materials due to its controversial content.

Malay Mail reported that the ban follows the publication of a government gazette, Film Censorship Order 2023, signed by Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail and published on 1 September. In exercise of the powers conferred by section 26 of the Film Censorship Act 2002 , the Minister makes the following order.
The film could not be publicly screened in local cinemas due to its discussion about faith and could be seen as blasphemous against Islam.
