PETALING JAYA: A Malaysian woman is in hot water after customs officers at an Indian airport found two giant squirrels in her checked-in luggage.

According to the Times of India, the woman arrived at the Trichy International Airport in Tamil Nadu on Sept 29.

The squirrels were confiscated under the Customs Act 1962 and were handed over to the Tamil Nadu forest department. It is prohibited to import Malayan giant squirrels as listed in the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora .
