KUALA LUMPUR: A shouting match erupted in Parliament on Tuesday after Datuk Ahmad Marzuk Shaary questioned Howard Lee over his video of a Quranic interpretation that went viral last month.
"Where did he learn how to interpret the Quran?" asked Ahmad Marzuk while debating Budget 2024 in the Dewan Rakyat on Tuesday . Lee stood up but Deputy Speaker Datuk Ramli Mohd Nor switched off his microphone and said Ahmad Marzuk had the floor. Lee could still be heard saying Ahmad Marzuk had made a malicious accusation against him and demanded that Ahmad Marzuk retract his statement.In response, he cited several verses from the Quran before Lee interjected and more MPs got involved in the shouting match.Despite warnings by the Deputy Speaker, the shouting match among the MPs."If I were to punish MPs, it won't be a light one.
