KOTA KINABALU: Small and local innovations could be the solution where big projects have failed regarding recycling in Sabah, says Jannie Lasimbang.
The Kapayan assemblyman said innovations like the glass cutter and plastic shredders designed by Tonibung, a social enterprise, can solve the state’s recycling problem.
“The machines have the power to transform discarded plastic and glass into valuable resources that can be used to create various products,” she said. Lasimbang said this during a simple ceremony to hand over the machines to several recipients at the Balairaya Koidupan in Penampang on Tuesday . The recipients included Kampung Koidupan Village Development and Security Committee chairman Simon Junior Jalin, who received a glass crusher.
